Job description
Advanced Pathology Laboratories is seeking a Pathology Lab Supervisor for our state-of-the-art accredited CLEP anatomic pathology laboratory in Midtown Manhattan. This is a full time position with a family-like atmosphere and great compensation. The ideal candidate has experience working in a variety of histology lab settings and is familiar with manual and automated histology techniques and excellent management and supervisory skills.Major responsibilities include embedding, cutting, assisting with grossing/processing/staining as needed. (CLEP) Lab Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the laboratory, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
Responsibilities:
Performs the following routine histologic procedures: Accessioning, Grossing, Processing, Embedding procedures, Cutting, Routine special staining such as H/E, AB/PAS, H.Pylori/CD3
Oversees daily laboratory operations, including specimen processing, testing, and result reporting.
Manages laboratory staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
Ensures adherence to all laboratory procedures and protocols.
Monitors laboratory equipment and supplies to ensure optimal performance and availability.
Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and initiates necessary repairs.
Quality Assurance:
Reviews and analyzes quality control data to identify trends and potential issues.
Investigates and resolves quality control failures and other laboratory discrepancies.
Regulatory Compliance:
Maintains accurate and complete laboratory records.
Prepares and submits required reports to regulatory agencies.
Staff Development:
Encourages professional development and continuing education.
Fosters a positive and collaborative work environment
Communicates effectively with laboratory staff, other departments, and external stakeholders.
Responds promptly to inquiries and resolves issues in a timely manner.
Job requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in biological or life sciences
Must have completed an accredited histotechnologist program
New York State License
HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification required
